Barstow Residence

Since 1993 the Stephen L. Barstow Artist-In-Residence program has brought over a dozen mid-career artists in a broad variety of disciplines to the CMU Art Department for semester-long residencies. Many of these artists have distinguished regional and national exhibition records.

Typically the Barstow Artist teaches two courses, resides in the Barstow House beside the Chippewa River, and develops work for an exhibition reflective of her/his time at CMU.

The Barstow Residency, now extended by the Barstow Lecture Series, is one of the finest examples of how Art at CMU continues to be viable, current, and involved.
